After going over budget and having alot of production problems it finally seems like Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger is finally back on track (that’ll make more sense after you’ve watched the trailer…. it won’t be any funnier but it’ll at least make sense). The film stars the awesomely named Armie Hammer as the masked hero with Johnny Depp filling the moccasins of his faithful Indian partner Tonto (who I’m guessing is going to be alot more than just a lovable sidekick in this movie).
This film has all the ingredients for a pretty decent blockbuster (action, humour, Depp being slightly weird and a comedic horse that seems to get up to alot of hijinx) so I’m looking forward to this (the fact that I kind of have a soft spot for Westerns and the old Lone Ranger TV series also work in the film’s favour). The first 2 Pirates of the Caribbean were mindless fun so let’s hope he goes for that style of a movie rather than whatever the hell they were trying to do in At World’s End… which was a queer ole movie to say the least.
